Perfect for a peaceful stroll or a dedicated birding excursion, these pathways offer you a scenic, at-your-doorstep escape into nature. Choose between the Hammerkop Dam Walk, Fish Eagle Trail or the Sunset Loop; or walk them all.
The Hammerkop Dam walk is a moderately easy, short looping trail of just under 1km. This walk is entirely along the farm road and does not involve bush walking. It's a short walk with a fairly steep gradient to the dam. Spend time bird watching around the dam or join one of the other trails.
The Fish Eagle Trail is a moderate walk of 1.4 km. A bird watchers dream that takes you to a viewpoint above Valley Nest, along the road, through macadamia trees, a ravine of indigenous bush and to the top of and around Fish Eagle Dam.
The Sunset Loop is a longer walk of 1.2 km with a couple of loops that can join the other trails. There is a gradual slope from the house through the garden and the macadamia trees walking along areas with diverse birding, riverine bush and through to a rocky outcrop where you can enjoy sundowners. The walk continues past Hamerkop Dam back to Valley Nest.
